At Journeys by Grace , we recognize that the definition of family is constantly evolving, and sometimes, unforeseen circumstances require extended family members to step into primary care giving roles.

As part of our commitment to keeping families together and maintaining our strong local roots, our Kinship Care Program is dedicated to supporting the unsung heroes of our communities: the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and extended relatives who have stepped in to raise their family members' children.

The Unsung Heroes of Our Families

When a child can no longer remain with their parents, placing them with a relative—known as kinship care—helps maintain family connections, cultural traditions, and community ties. However, this sudden transition can place a significant emotional and financial strain on the relatives stepping up. Often, grandparents who had planned for a quiet retirement find themselves navigating school systems, pediatric healthcare, and the everyday costs of raising a child all over again.

How We Help

Aligned with our core philosophy to Recover, Rebuild, and Restore, the Kinship Care Program provides a dedicated support system for these extended relatives. We work to ensure these families have the essential resources and community backing they need so that both the caregivers and the children can thrive.

By providing targeted support, we help families recover from the disruption that led to the kinship placement, rebuild a stable and nurturing home environment, and restore a sense of hope and normalcy to the children's lives.

Stand With Our Kinship Families

It takes a village to raise a child, and Journeys By Grace is honored to be part of that village. You can make a direct impact on these families right here at home.

Whether it is through donating essential resources or offering your time as a local volunteer, your support helps ensure that no grandparent or relative has to carry the weight of raising the next generation alone.
